What we offer to dancers
“Michael and Jaya are one of the unique teaching couples who have come up through the ranks strictly through their good teaching skills rather than any competitions they may have won. They are dedicated, caring people who are giving to their students and thoughtful about their craft. They are truly a gift in the Lindy Hop world.” – Bill Borgida
“Michael and Jaya have a deep passion for the subject matter that they are teaching, invigorating and commanding attention from their class and from their peers.” – Laura Glaess (Austin, TX)
“Great dancers, great teachers, great organizers, great thinkers, great people… I would love to sit in their brains for a weekend (and probably A LOT longer).” – Andrew Sutton (Sacramento, CA)
“Michael and Jaya….they are a power couple. They are creative and clear, compassionate and patient, and so fun to watch. Their teaching is studied but personalized. Do not miss a chance to study and dance with them.” – Julee Mertz (Big City Swing, Chicago)
“I love Michael and Jaya’s teaching and I love their dancing. From the first time I saw them … I’ve admired their understanding of movement, connection, and the music. Their teaching inspires me just as much as their dancing does: their modes of thinking complement extremely well, and Michael’s appeals to my own brain more than that of most teachers!” – Solomon Douglas
“Teachers, in an academic sense, should provide knowledge, comfort/approachability, and leadership to effectively be, what I consider, a great teacher. Many swing dance teachers today lack one or two of these critical skills, Michael and Jaya do not. They are also some of the most approachable, friendly, people you’ll meet and their students feel the same way…” – Andrew Thigpen (Atlanta, GA)
“Michael & Jaya provide challenging material in a fun and supportive learning environment. Many times I have been a part of one of their classes or seen them teach different class levels, and each time the participants think I will never be able to learn those moves/choreography/technique, etc. However, each time the students come out of the class doing what they thought they could never accomplish, due to this couple’s detailed explanation & breakdown of steps and encouragement to expand their dancing skills.” – Susan Manke (Nashville, TN)
